‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ Comparision

I chose The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle from Karissa’s blog. Both reviews that I looked at highlighted the educational value of the book as it shows the caterpillar metamorphous from a caterpillar into a butterfly.

What was interesting to me was the fact that the Book Bird review pointed out that while the book is scientific, the food that the caterpillar eats (plums, etc) is not factual in regards to what an actual caterpillar eats. This is a point that I had never really thought of, however I must admit that I’ve never really viewed the story as a study in entomology.
